Please see the 3.00 software update for this device which was just released and addresses this disruption. This software release should be available to all users at this time.
If you are having difficulty…
Can someone at Garmin respond to all our shout outs.
S2 Body Fat not accurate - Index S2 Smart Scale - Health & Wellness - Garmin Forums
We are aware of the issue and…
Well.. let's be realistic... do they want to spend time maintaining software on a $150 scale or a watch that costs between $1000 and $2400 ?
Realistic? My $1500 watch and $1000 Edge…
What am I doing wrong here?
You've bought the Garmin Index S2.

The least we can do is keep each other up to date and maybe in some cases prevent people from buying the Garmin S2 Smart scale on the assumption that Bodyfat% is useful. Fine for weight, but then it is an expensive scale.
And what @Kevin-Garmin can still do is inform us whether Garmin will improve anything? Or was closing the previous thread the signal that Garmin leaves its Smart Scale customers for what it is. That's also an answer.
After almost waiting 2 years for a fix, and posting multiple times on this forum, even pointing out where the issues lies within the algorithm, and it’s still not fixed. I decided to purchase a withings scale based on someone’s suggestion on this forum, and it has an athlete mode (it probably uses different algo, less reliant on BMI, since BMI is way off for people with higher muscle % than average), and it works really well. All Garmin has to do is add an athlete mode where it doesn’t use BMI in the fat percentage calculation. The issue is all software, not hardware and it’s a very easy fix. However since this was already pointed out almost 2 years ago and Garmin just closed the topics, I decided to go with withings. Only issue is syncing it to your garmin account, you need a 15 usd per year subscription on smartscalesync.com in order to sync it to garmin, but for me it’s worth it. Finally my health metrics like fitness age within garmin are dropping and accurate (because it requires a lower fat percentage). Also the scale works better than Garmins scale, it’s just standing on it, while with my garmin I had to tap it first and it was slower. I can highly recommend the withings body + scale, much cheaper and better than the scale from garmin.
Thank you - very helpful. Just subscribed and taking my trusty Withings out of the closet. This is just shameful of Garmin.
You did a good job dear community! I nearly made mistake and bought this scale! After all this posts I decided to buy another brand. Thank You!
Same as df92aec1d3ce40a7a0fea2bfeaf9ef2f, the device cost about 100€ in my country. I wanted to buy it but if it is to have basic weight indication...perhaps linked to wifi and my app....I can manage to have the same for less than 50€ elsewhere.
Or I can still enter my weight manually each day for less than 20€...
