Index Scales 2

Hi Guys

My old Garmin Scales had X problem and would only read weight and BMI ... so i splashed out on a new pair of Index Smart Scale 2 - seemingly not so smart its reading my Body fat double the amount of my old scales ( when they worked ) so 15% now reading as 29%.

Has any one had this issue and is there a fix

There are a large number of posts on this forum, reddit and elsewhere around Bodyfat % measurement issues on the Index Scales. Garmin have acknowledged this and have stated they are working on a software update, albeit that was many months ago.

From my own personal experience my Index S1 would ready my Body Fat to be lower than my Index S2 e.g. 12% vs 18%. I weight around 147 lbs and am 5'9", run 30 or so miles a week and do an hour of stretching/body weight exercises most days. My real bodyfat measurement is somewhere in the 9-12% range.

In order to get my Index S2 to read a somewhat close to real BF% I had to change my Activity Class to be 9 in Garmin Connect settings. However this now means my Index S1 reads way too low e.g. 6%.

My 15+ year old Tanita TBF-538 scales measure my body fat without any issues or 'activity class' settings being required.

For me personally it is more an annoyance that a real issue as I am not too focused on tracking BF%, I bought the scales to automatically sync my weight on a daily basis to my Garmin account.
