Body Fat % on Index S2 Smart Scale Seems Inaccurate

My new scale seems to give me a wildly different reading than my old one. I was previously using a Weight Guru's scale which gave me a body fat percentage between 18 and 19 percent which seems reasonable given my overall weight and fitness level. The new Garmin scale shows me over 26% body fat. Both scales show identical weight so what gives with the wild body fat numbers?

  • Hello???????. I am a Garmin user.............Are someone there?. Hehehe....

  • This is a joke. We are saying "count me" during months and nobody at Garmin tell nothing about a product that we are using like beta testers. i dont expect nothing about the body fat fix.

  •  and rest of the "brains trust" at Garmin couldn't care less. They have basically told me it is a dud and through their responses they have no intention of fixing it or controlling what data it uploads to Garmin Connect - eronious or otherwise.

  •  if Garmin has no intention of fixing this, perhaps Garmin should communicate that clearly to users and refund everyone who bought this product because it is basically not doing what it is advertised to do. Or perhaps Garmin should offer a discount toward a future Garmin product. That would be a much better way of handling the situation than just pretending there is no problem.

After my experience with index S2 and seeing how it produces fake data, and somewhat similar examples of Garmin producing fake data in other cases (e. g. running pace on Fenix 6), I seriously consider other brands not just for the scales but for other Garmin products that I own (3 of them).

And I'll make sure to influence as many potential Garmin users as I can.

  • agreed, i held out hope for a long time that garmin would sort this out but its been over a year now and no indication of action.

as someone with a total of 5 garmin devices currently, my only reason to use these scales is the integration into that platform - otherwise they are no better than any old cheap scales. i have to consider whether i should in fact switch to a different platform for all my devices

  • Having a Tacx Neo2T, Fenix 6X pro, and having this scale as a replacement of the S1. I know that for years I´m a Garmin fanboy, frequent user of garmin connect environment,  I can say that I´m one of the first users of Garmin connect.

But the lack of feedback/resolution from Garmin on this issue is totally unacceptable. If the scale is not fit for purpose then Garmin should accept that the S2 is not good enough and STOP selling and fix the issues before release.

It seems that only "we" are complaining on this forum, while on other social media it is relative quiet. Also I dont see any known "influencers" complaining about these issues.

The first step to fixing, is acknowledgment that there is an issue!!
