Index S2 Scale does not display any metrics except weight, BMI

I found aa article in respect to the issue few months back. I did reply for any solution, but no update.

I bought S2 last month, I did setup in accordance with the guide and manual. I had worked fine for next few weeks. It had displayed all metrics including body fat%, muscle, bone and water.

It has however showed only weight, BMI and weather since last week. I did reset, I did replace the batteries and I did cleaned the surface with a cleaning paper (with alcohol).

All my efforts are useless. It is still only displaying my weight, BMI and weather,

I emailed this concern to the Garmin Support Team, but no response. (I hope they have not got back from their Easter holiday)

I did research this by myself on the internet, found many articles in respect to this issue, but no solution.

Do I have to return this product and replace? How???? I am in Australia.

  • I've been using the scale a several months now and have no issues. Did the update this week and still working as a charm.

What I did notice and (think?) forgot to mention here is that with initial installation I also had this problem of not completely function. I did get weight but nothing more.

From what I remember is that after putting in the batteries you have to wait and/or perform a reset or something like that  (unfortunately I can't remember it exactly anymore) to let the scale 'perform' or 'do' some initiation and after that the scale worked fine. It was not very logical and had a bit of a 'accidentally lucky'  feeling.. Sorry I can't be more specific or of help to you guys!

But the first 2-3 times mine also didn't work and I wanted to send it back and than all the sudden it worked... And if I recall it correct it also didn't work the first attempt, to make it easier..... NOT.

Again, sorry for the late reply and the not so complete instruction, but as I said; I had the same issues and than it worked! And when it works, it works great! Immediate results and a few second later all data is in the Garmin app!

Thanks for your reply, but thats NOT the soloutuon for me.
And now with FW 3.0 and my Fritzbox, there are NO Data sync at all. Garnin, please fix ASAP.

  • I've been in contact with Kevin and they're definitely working on it. You might wanna add yourself to the list if you haven't already.

  • Thank you. I am curious how many months we have to wait for a fix. If there is no quick solution, the scale goes back.

Currently, the most expensive scale I've ever owned is completely useless.

  • I'm still curious about the actual method of fixing this, since updates would have to come via Wi-Fi. ThinkingSmiley

+ Factory resetting doesn't fix the problem. There seems to be no way to backdate the scale (?).

Right. My scale now doesn't even try to establish a WIFI connection. After three hours of futile attempts, the scale is just lying uselessly in the corner. Even a connection via WIFI hotspot on the Iphone has not worked, at least for me.
Either a Garmin technician must solve the problem at home on site, or the scale goes back.

If anyone knows a way of backdate, I would be grateful.

  • This expensive scale does not even have a -USB- port to be able to make a firmware UP/Down grade in a case like this in the conventional way via cable.
    What were the engineers thinking?

If there is a hidden menu to downgrade the scale internally or otherwise get it working again, a Garmin employee should tell us this method now.

  • Earlier on I posted that I dampen the bottoms of my feet before I step on the scale and it works every time. Since then I found that if I just wipe a damp cloth over the scale it works as well. The problem is that the scale can detect the pressure of your body and so it can give you your weight. However, I assume that the surface of the scale is not very conductive and so it cannot run the electronic pulse through your body to measure the others. This is why a software upgrade won't fix the problem. Hope this helps.

  • In my case, the problem is probably software, though. My scale worked flawlessly for 18 months giving me body fat every single day, with no exceptions until I upgraded to firmware 3.00. From that instant, I received only weight.

  • Hope this helps.

    Nope, it doesn‘t.

I spoke to support on the phone today and they confirmed that there is a serious software issue.
