Index S2 Scale does not display any metrics except weight, BMI

I found aa article in respect to the issue few months back. I did reply for any solution, but no update.

I bought S2 last month, I did setup in accordance with the guide and manual. I had worked fine for next few weeks. It had displayed all metrics including body fat%, muscle, bone and water.

It has however showed only weight, BMI and weather since last week. I did reset, I did replace the batteries and I did cleaned the surface with a cleaning paper (with alcohol).

All my efforts are useless. It is still only displaying my weight, BMI and weather,

I emailed this concern to the Garmin Support Team, but no response. (I hope they have not got back from their Easter holiday)

I did research this by myself on the internet, found many articles in respect to this issue, but no solution.

Do I have to return this product and replace? How???? I am in Australia.

  • showed only weight, BMI and weather

Do you have a solution in the meantime ? I have almost the same problem. However, it is not consistent. Sometimes all data is displayed to me and un Connect taken over. But that is the exception. I weighed myself 7 times this morning and only got weight and BMI and weather. Measuring 8 gave all the data. And then again only weight, bmi and weather. I wonder if the scale is defective or if it is Garmin's immature software.

  • I have the same issue. Can someone from Garmin reply on this? Replacement is the only solution?

  • This is really irritating. I’ve had my scales for only three weeks and I now have the same problem. No advanced biometrics being measured. It’s disappointing because this is my 5th Garmin product and 3 out of 5 have problems.  I’ve stuck with the Garmin ecosystem because people like DCRainmaker review and praise the product but Garmin’s lack of support and disregard for owning and addressing what are obvious design and/or manufacturing issues is driving me to dump them.   If Apple or Samsung’s product were this bad they’d resolve them straight away. What’s the point of having feature if the product fails to work.

  • I am in the USA and bought the S2 scales about 3 months ago. Generally have worked fine except the last 2-3 weeks I am finding that at least 50% of the time I am only get the weight/BMI reading and none of the additional metrics.

  • I sometimes have this problem, if the weight symbol does not turn green before the name displays on the screen it has not had a connection with the feet. I them give my feet a rub with my hands and then weigh again and it then works.

  • Try running a damp cloth across your feet before you step on the scale.

  • Try running a damp cloth across your feet before you step on the scale.

I don't know if this is a good idea, since the values are measured based on the electrical conductivity of the skin. If you wet the skin, it will falsify the values.

  • It worked for me. My values were consistent with prior values. To clarify, my suggestion was not to wet your feet so much that you drip water, but just to make them more conductive by making them slightly damp. I know this is splitting hairs, but again, it worked for me and I thought it may work for others that were as frustrated as I was.

  • I will definitely try it.
