Index S2 WiFi Uploading

I have a S1 Index scale and just purchased a S2 Index scale thinking my S1 was broken. These scales won’t upload to the Garmin Connect app through WiFi.  I used to not have any issues but all of a sudden the WiFi icon just blinks on the scale.  I reset the scale, reset the WiFi connection in the app multiple times but never actually sticks and works.  Doing a bit of research, could it be a WIFI band issue?  I just got a new Comcast Xfinity Gateway and is it a 2.4 GHZ vs. 5 GHZ issue?  Really frustrating that these Garmin devices don’t upload via WIFi anymore.

Thanks!

  • Change the Chanel of wifi

  • Within the router or can I change what the Garmin devices connect to? Is there a certain channel garmin works with and doesn’t?

  •  It's generally considered best-practice to only use 20 MHz channels in the 2.4 GHz band (channels 1 - 14), using the wider channels only in the 5 GHz band (channels 36 and above.)  Also, the 2.4 GHz channel should be 1, 6, or 11. The numbering of 2.4 GHz channels is defined such that the frequencies used actually overlap, which causes interference and reduces performance.  Using 1, 6, and 11 only avoids the overlap.  The allocation of frequencies to channels in the 5 GHz band is more intuitive, so this overlap issue doesn't apply there

  • Interesting I’ll take a look. It’s strange because it will not upload via WiFi at all anymore. I have to hit the reset button every time, reset, then go through set up again. It rarely recognizes my Wifi password. It maybe works every 10th time, then after a few hours it won’t connect to WiFi again. Then I reset the device, and the cycle starts. This is only happening with my scale now. It was happening with a FR 245 but that has strangely fixed itself somehow.

  • Is your new wifi 5ghz only?

If so, there is your problem. Garmin uses old 2.4ghz wifi only.

On most wifi accespoints/routers you can enable both 2.4 and 5 ghz. That should fix it

  • I believe it uses both. It’s the latest Xfinity Gateway. xFi Gateways are 'dual band,' meaning that they broadcast two separate radio bands for their WiFi network - a 2.4 GHz band and a 5 GHz band. ... However, by using the same WiFi name and password for both, devices will connect seamlessly to the most optimal band at any given time. This is called 'band steering.

    that’s what their website lists.

  • @ did you manage to make it work reliable ?!

i have asus air MASH with same thing (band steering)..  should i make gues lan especaly for SCALE ?! with 2.4 only?

i relay hate thing not working right.. all other devices ar working just fine (48+) of them..

--i am stil on index,, considering S2 if things would get better..
