Locate Index S2 Smart Scale MAC address

Hello

I'm trying to ascertain the MAC address for my new Index S2 Smart Scale.

I've turned off my WiFi access control which allowed the scale to connect and was able to see, what I thought was the scale .. but .. turns out it wasn't the device.

I need the MAC address as I only allow known devices to access my WiFi network.

Any tips on how to access the MAC address for the scale is appreciated.

    Try looking on your Wi-Fi router. Most have a way to see what devices are connected to it.

    As  mentioned, you can see this from your router's home page under "attached devices." The Garmin device will show up with a MAC prefix of F0:99:19 which is associated with Garmin. You might have to weigh yourself so there is some network traffic between the router and the scale, then go refresh the connected devices page on your router and it should show up.

    I was able to see the ‘Wireless Clients’ attached to my Apple Airport routers but couldn’t see the Index Scale in the list.  A bit later it occurred to me that the Index Scale doesn’t stay connected to my WiFi network i.e. it connects when needed.

    After stepping on the scale again I checked the list of clients and found a new entry for ‘WINC-00-00’ the MAC address for which was in the range for Garmin.  I’ve captured that and can now update my network security settings.

    Of course, Garmin could just add the MAC address details alongside the serial number on the sticker on the box which would have made this 1000% easier.

    I was in a tough spot with this, as I have Spectrum Community Wifi at my apartment, and I have to know the MAC address to connect it. There is no way to connect it and determine the MAC address first. Here's what I did. It involved two android phones.

    1. Set up Wifi tethering on my primary phone.
    2. Set up the scale on my tethered network.
    3. On a second phone, install Fing, connect it to the tethered network.
    4. Scan for devices on the network, and it finds the scale. If not, step on the scale to activate it and get it to connect to wifi again, then rescan.

    Garmin wasn't any help with this. They just said sorry, there's no way. There's so much space on the bottom of the scale. A sticker with the MAC address would have saved me so much time.
