I also had initially difficulties to wake it up (got mine just yesterday) - until I found out that "tapping" should rather be called "knocking". Try knocking with your finger on the scale as if you were…
solved: you have to kick it, not just toucht
As an update, I received shipping confirmation for my replacement scale the day they received the defective one, so kudos to Garmin for the fast response. Fingers crossed this one is better!
Mine wakes up pretty easily.
You only need to tap it. Like knocking on a door. I usually do it using my toenail, a simple tap/knocking sound is enough to wake it up, or swap users if multiple users are using it. You can also use your knuckles, but that requires reaching it with your hand.
OK, thanks for telling me my lived experience in invalid and incorrect.
Here's the root cause of this for me-
It's the 3.00 software version. On this version, it's really difficult to wake the scale up. Knock, tap, stomp...doesn't matter. It eventually wakes, but very slow.
With the 2.12 software version, a simple tap does it.
I've been manually updating to 3.00, then a few days later, it reverts back to 2.12. Incredibly annoying on its own. But I can tell when it happens by how easily it wakes.
