How to Update to 1.07 - Index BPM Software Version 1.07 Now Available

The update of the software for the BPM has been announced but I had to search and thanks to the post that I or anyone could easily miss, I had no idea of how to update the BPM. I would have thought that this needed to be an important part of the post notifying us of the update particularly since the latest manual online says:

Maintenance

  • No firmware update is needed during the service life of this product.
  • On very rare occasions, you might need to reinstall the firmware on the device due to hardware malfunction. In this case, the intended use remains unchanged.
  • Any modification or change to the firmware is prohibited.

My thanks to  who posted this link. The answer on how to update can be found here:

P.S. Oh Garmin developers, why customers shold find and pass bugs themselves? Do you perform system test on version update?

  • I think you’re on to something here.  I just reset mine again and then after the WiFi connected I held down the heart during the first sync, after it got the check mark, the download started.  I can’t imagine Garmin finally fixed it, so it had to be that.

  • The solution from 6586553 solved the issue that the BPM don't want to update,

  • I managed to finally get the update. I'm not positive what the breakdown was, but ultimately it appears the wi-fi connection either was not working at all, or it was not reaching the update servers.

I have a VPN on my phone so I reconfigured the WiFi on the BPM to use my phone's hotspot, and then connected the phone VPN to the US (Seattle). After doing this, when initiating the WiFi sync on the BPM, rather than the display icon switching from WiFi to bluetooth after a second or two, it remained the WiFi icon, as though it was making some progress connecting. Previously I had not understood why the WiFi sync icon never remained on.

It then transitioned to the firmware update animation (cloud etc), took two full passes of the progress bar, and was updated.
