How to Update to 1.07 - Index BPM Software Version 1.07 Now Available

The update of the software for the BPM has been announced but I had to search and thanks to the post that I or anyone could easily miss, I had no idea of how to update the BPM. I would have thought that this needed to be an important part of the post notifying us of the update particularly since the latest manual online says:

Maintenance

  • No firmware update is needed during the service life of this product.
  • On very rare occasions, you might need to reinstall the firmware on the device due to hardware malfunction. In this case, the intended use remains unchanged.
  • Any modification or change to the firmware is prohibited.

Use the below instructions to update your device.  

  1. Remove the Index BPM from the Garmin Connect app.   
    1. Open the Garmin Connect App.
    2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
    3. Select Garmin Devices.
    4. Select the device you want to remove.
    5. Select     (top right).
    6. Select Remove Device.
    7. Confirm you want to remove the device.
    8. Remove the device from your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings.  
  2. Reset your Index BPM to default settings.  See Resetting the Device for more information.  
  3. Remove and re-install the battery door.
  4. Add the Index BPM back to your account by pairing the device with the Garmin Connect app.  See Pairing Your Device with the Garmin Connect App for more information.   

Once paired with the Garmin Connect app, your monitor will automatically download any available software updates.  

  • I'm curious to know if those that have had inaccuracy issues notice any changes with this update. I returned mine long ago but would be willing to give it another chance if anything has changed for the positive. 

  • I had not perceived that there was a problem with accuracy, so there has been no change there from my perspective. 

  • what a ridiculous process. it's as though garmin doesn't know what a firmware update is

  • Just went through all these steps to the T, after adding back the device to garmin connect it still has the big X at the end of a reading. Plus when I go look at the device details on connect website it's still on version: 1.05 and thinks it's up to date. What a complete piece of garbage.

  • Having same Issue with Index BPM, synchronization with Garmin Connect not working -> showing X. Firmware update not working. Current FW 1.06 followed all steps described here but FW will not update.

  • Annoying that this issue is open for more than 6 months and not solved. Seems Garmin is not paying much attention to this product. I think I will return the Index BPM and by a BPM from another brand. 

  • I bought a BPM today. It's version 1.06. Web Connect is currently telling me it's up to date. During the afternoon I tried about 5 times to reset the device and start the update. At one point during this, Web Connect reported that an update was available for the device.
    The above procedure does nothing and Web Connect says inconsistent information.
    Disappointing

    When I buy a watch on the first day of sale I accept that it is not a perfect product, but a device that will evolve over time and as a fan of the brand I accept that. But given that it took over 2 years to get BPM to Europe (I don't blame them at all, I get it...) I would expect all these silly ailments to have been solved long ago. 

  • I am not sure if I get you right: Did the device update to 1.07. in the end or not? Which country are you from?
