May also try https://apps.garmin.com/de-DE/apps/0d9fd828-c932-4470-9c37-fd2828881888 but i guess won't work as the 516 is not compatible
Blinken wäre in Österreich sogar ok.....

This question has been asked several times before. I never heard about anyone succeeding.
And I have reasons to believe that there are in fact some significant hardware differences, while the firmware remains the same for both models.
Would it realy make sens to develop a separate hardware for this market?
Depends on how many units you sell. Germany is a relatively big market.
For me it would make more sense that you use the same hardware and just have a kind of jumper or so to set the version.
I'm no specialist in modern electronics, but I suspect that at this level of integration in electronic components jumpers haven't been used for years.
Maybe I try to open my varia and do a closer look.
Go ahead. I am curious to see myself.
Don't think it is possible without damaging it. Luckily we have FCC https://fccid.io/IPH-04024/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-4655614 :)
Fcc fotos are fine thanks for that, but have to zoom in a littel more, 2 pices look like they could be jumper (open on this pcb), but not sure, it also looks a little bit like there is something written on the pcb but resolution is not good enough to read it.
Germany Compared to worldwide is not a big market, how many devices do you think they can sell there.
Jumpers are not only this old big things known from motherboards, in modern times they are soldered. It is common, if you have a battery managemtsystem you can decide with soldered jumpers how many cells you use, just as an example.
