Varia Radar RTL510 Software Update 3.2->3.3 - cannot update

Just recently received this unit. I have it paired with the 520 plus. It seems to work well. However I cannot do the firmware update from 3.2 to 3.3. Aug 8 I called Garmin support and was on the phone with them for over 30 minutes and no resolution. There is now an open help ticket on this but I have heard nothing back from Garmin. Will advise when I do. I sent them a follow-up this morning.

Anyone have luck on doing the firmware update?

I just got a Varia RTL510 and also having trouble updating from 3.2 -> 3.3. Symptoms are exactly the same as described above.

Any acknowledgement / update from Garmin on the update issue?

Also can Garmin expand on what will be delivered with v3.3 'Minor improvements to radar performance" ...

Does this address issue of detection of cycles following at different speeds in a group. For example I was riding with a group, I was quicker up the hills than some, when they caught up on the flat I was getting intermittent detection of them following - maybe the RTL510 is far more sensitive, because never encountered this with the RTL500.

Tuesday I received the following e-mail from Garmin product support.

"Thank you for sending in those files; I have passed them along. I am waiting to hear back on them and then I will let you know when I know more."

I have the same problem with the RTL 511.
The XML file (like shown here before) tags the update-file for 3.3 as 3.20. Maybe that is the problem.

I've modified the XML manually before restarting, but it didn't help.
The update-file gets removed while restarting, but no update happens.

I've contacted Garmin support 4 weeks ago and got NO REPLY at all......

Add my name to the long list of users having issues with the update. I thought it had worked when my Edge 820 indicated the Varia had an update waiting. Once I ran the update via the Edge, it indicated successful. However since then, each time I power on the Edge and it links to the Varia, it still says an update is ready to install. Annoying as hell. Also, since attempting the update, the Edge often shows me a Varia disconnected message, then quickly reconnects. I did not have those connectivity issues prior to attempting to update to 3.3. They need to get this fixed asap.

Had the issue with a new unit, called Garmin and they said they would send me a new unit. Long story short, new unit came in today, same issue.

Yep, +1 add me to the list.
Brand new unit that I only collected yesterday. Shipped with FW3.2, GExpress prompted for update but it didn't succeed. Paired Garmin Edge 1030 tried as well but that failed also.
Why did Garmin support think shipping you a new unit was going to fix the problem? #shrug

Just to balance the scales, I got my RTL510 on Sunday. It came with 3.2. I updated it with Garmin Express to 3.3. No issue. This was done before attempting to pair with my 1030.
