Varia Radar RTL510 Software Update 3.2->3.3 - cannot update

Just recently received this unit. I have it paired with the 520 plus. It seems to work well. However I cannot do the firmware update from 3.2 to 3.3. Aug 8 I called Garmin support and was on the phone with them for over 30 minutes and no resolution. There is now an open help ticket on this but I have heard nothing back from Garmin. Will advise when I do. I sent them a follow-up this morning.

Anyone have luck on doing the firmware update?

    I haven't been able to from my Edge Explore either.

    We have both of these issues reported for investigation.

    I have the same issue.

    When I try via the PC, File is copied to RTL510 but then on startup the file is removed but not installed.

    Same issue for me, the latest upgrade to 3.3 is not working the RTL510 does not restart to complete the upgrade. I have tried it both through the Edge 1030 and through Garmin Express.

    FWIW, I just did the update, and it worked fine. I used a laptop with Garmin Express, connecting the device with a Garmin USB mini wire.

    Same problem here , used Mac and Garmin Express, new firmware copies over to varia. I follow instructions to disconnect and start up - but does not update and gcd file removed. Plug back into Mac any Garmin Express is just stuck. Restart Garmin Express it says software upgraded to 3.3, but if I look in device XML it still says 3.2. Edge says varia still on v3.2. If I remove device from Garmin Express and re add it now reports that it is on v3.2 and starts upgrade process again - which follows same path as above !!!

    Fails trying to update from Edge also ...
    Tried to update from Edge 1030, says it is updating, Varia restarts and still on v3.2
    Here is device.xml if any use?

    Any update as I am facing the same problem updating my RTL510? Couldn't do it with Garmin Express nor Edge 1030!

    I'm experiencing the same problem...

    On 'www8.garmin.com/.../download_details.jsp it stays <<If attempts to upload software fail, you may need to return the device to Garmin® for service>>...

    Should we interpret this as being a known problem for some earlier serie or similar...?

    Garmin reached out to me on the help ticket. They currently had no resolution (as of Tues Aug 21) and asked I send my data which I did today (been travelling). I will update based on responses from Garmin.
