Issues with Varia Radar halfway through ride

Hi all,

I am a new Varia Radar user. It is paired to my Edge 520 and on my second ride, about halfway through the ride I stopped getting notifications on my Garmin. The light was displaying correctly for traffic approaching behind me, and the Edge 520 still maintained the "upside down wifi" signal indicating that it was still in communication to the Varia Radar.

Has anyone else seen this behavior since the firmware update?

I stopped getting notifications on the Edge 520 of cars and vehicles approaching from behind me.

What software build do you have on the radar? The latest is 3.80

Same exact issue here. Edge 520/Varia radar with the latest firmware. During my ride, turning the Varia off and on doesn’t help. Disabling it/re enabling it from the 520 settings doesn’t help. The only thing that helps is restarting the 520. That’s not an option for me, as it screws up my ride data.

I always keep my devices up to date, so both my 520 and my Varia are at the very latest firmware versions. 3.80 on the Varia, and 12.50 on the Edge 520.

I have this same issue going on a long time. I use an explore 1000. The issue always occurs after a phone disconnect/reconnect.

I have this same issue going on a long time. I use an explore 1000. The issue always occurs after a phone disconnect/reconnect.

It gets worse, not only has it stopped showing vehicles it also turns the light off. Of course you don’t realise this until you stop. This has now become a dangerous situation and needs immediate attention. The only consolation is I know it happens after a phone disconnect. I guess a work around is to turn off Bluetooth but this will have an impact on collision detection. I’m going to take the bull by the horns and contact Garmin support unless any of you guys out there can suggest anything.
