1st ride with Varia Vision

Got Vision and went on my 1st ride with it today.. Crappy weather so I only went on a short 20-mile ride..

I had about 5 radar disconnects during the ride. Vision announced the disconnects but then immediately repaired. The odd part was that the Edge 1000 stayed connected to the Radar and continued to track vehicles during the Radar's disconnects from Vision.

The Edge 1000, the Radar and Vision are all up to date firmware wise..

Other than that, Vision performed well. Peripheral vision is slightly effected to the side you have VV mounted on and the radar alert vibrations are a little weak.. I did not see the huge delay in data that others have comment on but did notice a slight delay of less than a second.. Not a big deal to me..

Anyone else rocking the combo having radar disconnects?

I think I resolved my constant disconnects between Varia Vision and Varia Radar..

I previously had the Radar attached to the rear of my saddle bag... I though that this might have been obstructing the ANT signal so today I moved the Radar back onto the seat post and everything was fine! I went on a 62 mile today and had ZERO disconnects!

It's kind of odd that the ANT signal could be getting blocked to the point where it was causing the disconnects but I suppose it's possible..

Anyway, at this point it does not appear to be an issue with either device and was simply a radar placement problem..

Congrats! I bet you will love it!

I can't ride without mine paired to Radar anymore as I feel naked without the combo!

2 more rides (3 total) since moving my Radar unit from the saddlebag attachment to the seat post and no disconnects. I've went well over 140 miles since the change was made and all is fine!

Anything to report with longer term use?

Hi All Vision Radar Combo Users

I am particularly interested in how the Varia Vision 'Vibration Alert', captured by the Varia Rear View Radar, is performing.

Early reports suggested the Vibration was 'weak', but perhaps there have been improvements with the Firmware/Software?

I have hearing difficulties and was intent on purchasing VV just before my Garmin Kit was stolen complete with 2 Bikes.
The only Garmin item still in my possession is a Vivoactive HR, and it's Vibration Alerts are pathetic. Mounted on my wrist it is not possible to detect any vibration alerts whilst riding. Holding the device at the Strap Mountings between thumb and forefinger produces a noticeable increase in vibration but of course this is not much use whilst riding.

Vibration is probably more noticeable when felt rather than when heard? As the VV is much closer to ear perhaps it's alert function is improved?
Has anyone gone to the lengths of bending the Temple Arms of Glasses/Google or installing a 'solid pad', with a view to making actual contact with the Temple?

I am about to splash the cash on new devices and would like to invest in kit that has similar facilities to Garmin but do actually work in the real world. Fortunately for Garmin no other Manufacturer seems to offer Range and Interoperability.
Garmin really do NEED to massively increase effort to make all their devices usable in the Real World.
