The low sound problem is caused by the Garmin mount which is solid and effectively blocks the sound. I discovered this when I got a third party mount (I wanted theEdge mounted further forwards) and the…
I have been disappointed in the low level of the alert. It looks like Garmin does not feel the need to help us riders with poor hearing. I have always thought that the best solution would be if the 1030…
RWGPS will also pair with the Varia and produce various tones for warning, high speed warning, plus all clear and they are loud enough that I need to turn the phone down...but I wouldn't know if it is…
I won't road ride without my Varia paired to an Edge 1000.. but SO wish I could hear the alert "beep". The noise from the wind drowns it out, I hear nothing, forcing me to glance at the Edge instead of the road more frequently than I'd like.
In my car i'm not afraid of being pushed of the road. On my bike i am.
I want to be warned. I also dont want to set my alarm every 5 minutes at night to check the fire alarm., I want a sound signal.
Dont you really get the point or are you just polluting this thread because you like to see your writing on the web ? (get a life!)
BTW, i already have a varia.
I have been disappointed in the low level of the alert. It looks like Garmin does not feel the need to help us riders with poor hearing. I have always thought that the best solution would be if the 1030 could send the alert to a single earbud. I found on the Aliexpress site a very small Bluetooth transmitter board that also has a microphone. Since it was only $4, I ordered one. I have been experimenting with it and I think it is going to work out. A power supply with a micro output is inserted into the very small board ( about 1" by 2") and it is ready to go. I put the board in a plastic case and taped the power supply to it and used velcro to attach the assembly to the 1030 with the tiny microphone over the garmins speaker area I paired the board to some headphones. I need to get a smaller power supply and make a better case for it. Also need to have a better method of attaching it to the 1030. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have something that can be used without too much trouble setting it up for each ride.
This is still my number one issue with the Edge 830, low notification sound, especially with the Varia RTL515 (also other notifications as well). All Garmin needs to do IMO is to allow notifications to be sent to your iPhone (or other BT speaker device) and the problem would be solved as my phone volume is more than enough. I have experimented with running the RTL515 through my 830 AND ios app at the same time and it works well (notification volume) but the app is a battery hog. Is this volume issue the same on the Edge 1030?
