Rally 200 firmware update problems

I've tried updating the pedals to firmware 3.00 but it takes several minutes sending data to them and when the progress bar finishes(after at least 20 min) Garmin Connect tells me that the connection has lost and no updates will be saved. Minutes later when it seems the pedals restart and the connection is established again the update appears on Garmin Connect so I assume no update has been done.

I've tried 3 times and the result has been the same.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Alberto

  • I had the same experience, Garmin Connect showed a failed update, yet after a ride, I noticed the SW level was 3, so the update was completed without feedback.

  • Having the same issue updating with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Every time I go into the Rally settings page in the Garmin app it keeps telling me there's a firmware update available even though it's allegedly finished.

It even blinked green 20 times but it didn't automatically reconnect to the app. It just shut off afterwards. Spinning them every couple seconds while it updates makes no difference.

Software revision shows as 2.3 in my Karoo 2.

  • As Koen1805 has said, I had the same issue but without doing anything the other day it appeared as updated to FW 3.0  so it must be only a problem with the android app.

  • I'm having the same problem, I can't get the firmware on my Garmin Rally RS100 pedals to update successfully. I've tried at least 4 times, via the Garmin Connect app on my Google Pixel (I don't have anWorried Edge, as use a Wahoo GPS unit). It looks like the firmware downloads okay, then the pedal disconnects from Connect (as expected), but when it reconnects, it says "updated failed" - this despite on the lWorriedast few attempts pedaling the whole time that the download/update procedure was happening. Is there some trick I'm missing here? Massively frustrating and a waste of my time. Worried

Is it possible to update via the Garmin Connect windows application?

  • Try spinning the pedals (every min or so) while updating via Garmin Connect.

  • I guess the update succeeded, yet the feedback to Garmin Connect failed. Had the same. I went for a ride and after uploading my ride, it mentioned the new SW level correctly.  So in my case, it was clearly the feedback loop on the update status to Garmin Connect. And yes, I initially also tried updating over and over again ...

  • I was spinning the pedals the whole time...

  • Okay, well I'm going for a ride tomorrow, so we'll see!

  • Aha! This worked for me too, after uploading a ride, Garmin Connect now says I'm on the latest 3.0 firmware, thanks for the tip!

  • In my case battery in the right pedal died during the update process as it was stuck in the update loop. After replacing both batteries no issues at all.
