Why my Edge Explore 2 with latest firmware does not show all of the user added course points?

While planning the course in GC I add 5-7 course points to get general idea how far I have remaining to those checkpoints. The issue is that out of that 5-7 points, when I start the course, not all of them are shown on the list.

Any idea how to get around this?

Do you see an empty list? i.e. the datafield "Course points"  empty?

If so, one explanation could be: your edge 'thinks'  that you've already passed that course points. If that's the case; having the course points list datafield activated and starting the course, you'll problably see the filled course points list for a very short time (split second) and some notification of the passe by course points.

At least, thats what I sometimes notice

  • GPX  and Course Points: I've made .gpx files, holding coursepoints - i.e. points I've named and given a symbol and are part of my course/route. I've imported them into GC web-app and send them to my EE2 by means of Bluetooth; these courses  on the EE2 still contain their course points.

Garmin Connect is converting the waypoints in the GPX file to course points into whatever GC uses to store the course data.

Garmin Connect sends a FIT file to your device.

Course points aren’t part of the GPX specification. Course points are basically waypoints that are on the course track.

Course points are a Garmin thing and you’ll only get them on your device from a FIT or TCX file (keep in mind that they optional for FIT or TCX files).

  • This picture shows one of the course points on the map

You should enable screen capture on your device instead of taking hard-to-read pictures of the device.

  • 5. And this picture shows the list in the coursepoints datafield with (only!) two of the course points

    That’s the course point page

Datafield are parts/elements (which you can change) on certain pages.

  • I noticed that  the Course points sometimes disappear when importing  a file into  Garmin Connect (Web App)

If the waypoint (it’s not a course point yet) isn’t exactly on the track, I’d expect it won’t be converted as a course point.

You really should be using a planner (eg, Garmin Connect or Ridewithgps) that explicitly supports course points  and can export FIT or TCX files.

  • Course point page

    Ok, thanks for mention it.

I could not  - and still can't! - find the name of this page in the Garmin Edge Explore 2.

Can't find anything on this special page in tyhe documentation at all.

And because its in the screen cyclus of the other datascreens (like map and elevation) , I thoughj it was just a special datascreen with only one datafield.

  • The course point page only shows up if you have "display course points" for the course (in the course settings).

It's not a datafield because you can't change what data it displays.

  • Course points and gpx/fit

I agree indeed, as I tried to explain in my earlier posts.

  • Today, I've tried to upload screen captures. But as the device crates them as bmp large files, they don't fit into one post.

And it seems, the forum places my posts at the end of this thread, so upload new pictures in new posts would mess things up.

I also tried to convert them to png or jpg, but than I run in other problems.

So, I'll keep your tip in mind and shall be using it, next time I want to upload device pictures.
