New Edge Explore 2 Version 20.18 Now Available

The new firmware 20.18 was installed on my device yesterday.
What are the changelogs?

  • How to undo this crap to 19.21. I charge my explore 2 to 100%. After 3hours-ride got 90%. Then turn it off. Next week go for a ride, turn it on: 5% battery.....

  • The only thing I can tell you about the battery drain you describe, is that it's not a common issue with software 20.18. I know several cyclists, including myself who never have any problems and are not overwhelmed with 'crap' feelings - in contrary - using their EE2.
The tips I can give you:
    - after a software update it is not unusual to have to do a full reset of the device to factory settings to get it stable
    - before turning Power Off, switch Satellite (GPS or Multi) to Off (has been a solution via this forum for battery issues)
    - be sure to switch Power Off and do not use Sleep mode.

    Hope this may help you.

By the way, it is easy to store a backup on your PC after Garmin Express has copied new software to your device: GE will notice you about that.
BEFORE detaching the device and BEFORE restarting it make a copy of the file GUPDATE.GCD from the folder ..\Garmin
On the PC you can for example rename the file to GUPDATE_2018.GCD for later version reference. If you ever copy the file back to the device you should restore its original name GUPDATE.GCD.
