Never had this issue after installing firmware 19.21 on 20-dec-2023 (10+ outdoor rides). My heartrate monitor strap is an ANT+/Bluetooth non-Garmin brand strap (XAND), connected via ANT+.
I have not had this problem for the last couple weeks, so hopefully it does not come back. When the HR does drop out the only way I have found to quickly reconnect again is as follows:
Pause Ride

I have the same problem. Not constantly but every now and then the heart rate shuts down. Makes no difference whether I use the strap (Garmin) or my watch (Garmin).
I only recently updated to the latest firmware and I now have the same heart rate drop out problem for my last 2 rides . . . Explore 2 loses signal and can't get it back. HR monitor still working fine, I can connect it to my phone with no problem.
Unfortunately this problem has not been solved with the latest firmware update (20.18). Today the same drop out.
Garmin, do something about it. This is irritating.
Hello, 2 hour ride here this morning with a garmin dual hrm strap. No connetion issues, could your ee2 be faulty? Have you tried a factory reset?
im using latest 20.18 software
cheers

As I said, I’m using the latest (20.18) firmware. This HR monitor problem does not show up every time I use it. My last two rides with the strap were without any problem. I’m very happy with the device, works excellent except for this issue.
Factory reset does not solve the problem.
Could it be a problem with the HR monitor battery instead?
No, that’s not the problem. Renewed it lately.
Must say that during the last couple of rides I had no problem. Hope it stays so.
In the meantime my EE2 is on 20.18 software from its birth and never had any problems with the HRM.
What comes up in my mind is the wetting of the strap contacts. More sweatting during your last rides due to higher outside temperatures maybe? I'm always wetting my chest skin with some sputum before putting on the strap. Also a hairy chest is not good for the contact of the strap contacts to the skin.
And my non-Garmin HRM strap module has a right and a left side, indicated by arrows and text, so be aware to wear the HRM correctly.
In the meantime I had several rides without any problem. But today again there was a failure, this time after a 50 minutes ride.
Everything bikepc01 suggests I already have as standard procedure. With an original Garmin strap. I’m afraid I’ll have to deal with it.
