Is there any info about that this new great feature will be implemented in the Explore 2 anytime in the near future?

On the 1040 forum there's a post saying it's in the beta for the 1040. haven't seen anything yet about the Explore 2.
I see no reason not to become available for EE2.
I think the reason from Garmin's side will be that the EE2 is more of a touring model and not a sports model.
Which is indeed a very sad reason.
And touring cyclists don't climb hills and mountains...? Hope Garmin will regognize this and implement ClimbPro Ascent Planner (ClimbPro on freerides) on the Explore 2 in the first upcoming software update.
However there may be an issue with storage space because the Explore has 16GB capacity and the extra maps for ClimbPro take a lot of space. An option to select only smal(ler) areas on the map is needed.
Maybe will be able to do with garmin connect and mobile data.
The 16GB capacity can't be an issue, because the Edge 540 also has only 16GB. OK, you can't install the whole world one time, but only US / Europe / etc will work.
I doubt that... From the 540 section:

And only 16 gb memory while for example the new full Europe cycle maps with the additional new climpPro maps (for using ClimbPro in free ride modus) have 19,2 gb is also a dealbreakers for a lot of people (although normally > 90% don’t use/need the full Europe map).
OK, but somehow it is working on the Edge 540.
Do you need special Climb Pro maps though - shouldn't any map containing elevation information be sufficient?
Garmins TOPO Light maps (UK) that I've used on my Oregon included DEM information.
My Edge Explore 2 (using Europe West) has a gmapdem.img file which I gather is DEM information. I've yet to create a course on the device but I'd imagine it'll show elevation details.
