Follow loaded route and record ride

I do not understand how to follow a recorded route and at the same time record the ride. What are the steps

Then I do not know what my problem was. Whatever I did just did not seem to have the two work together.

I think your issue is something else.

When you have a course loaded, you should see a dark purplish line on the map.
If recording is active, you should see a cyan line coming from the tail of the blue arrow.

Do you see these two things?
