Redundant "Day" showing up in menus

On dates within the device, they are displayed as MONTH ## "Day" as seen in my screenshots. It's been like this for a few months now but before November, let's say, this didn't appear. It's merely graphical, but any idea why this is? Perhaps part of a variable string is getting printed? No, I don't think it matters what time of day the activity was done.

  • try to change the language for example to German/Deutsch (or what language is not a problem for You), and check with that also. then change it back to english and check that too also. maybe the language file is corrupted or any other file

  • That's a good guess, I tried it with French and Dutch and same result. I assume you are not seeing this on your device? It's not bothersome and doesn't seem to break anything, I thought it was just an odd bug.

  • I assume you are not seeing this on your device? I

I'm not seeing this on my 840.

    Software: 30.18

    Language: English

  • yeah, i dont see, this is why i suggested that trick , but not that the solution.

try to delete the following files from Edge's storage:

    device.fit

garmindevice.xml, then unmount and unplug from computer and restart and check again

  • Did not do anything. I will reach out to Garmin if they have seen this before.

  • Contact Garmin. Don't delete anything. I suspect that the unit is made for the Asian market and therefore has some different logic about date format that is only getting exposed when set to English. As English is not the primary language for the unit.

  • You are correct, it was purchased in Taiwan where today's date would be written like 2月19日 (lit. 2 month 19 day) but it did not show this before November last year which is why I screenshotted it. Unfortunately I don't have evidence of this.

Via Garmin chat, an agent suggested I try a "master reset" which I may or may not do because reentering all my settings etc is annoying while this bug is quite bearable.

  • A reset will not change that. Thanks for the additional information about it working before. I will pass this information on to my contacts at Garmin.

  •   I've just seen on an upcoming beta release that this issue is going to get addressed. I'm not on the beta branch but I will confirm once it's on the general release. Thanks for bringing this up to the right people!

    Change Log 31.18

    • Fixed translation issue causing "Day" to be added to date strings.
