New sensor detected (alert will not go away)

When I turn on my Garmin 840 edge, it says "Power Sensor Found, New-Sensor detected: "P Quarq AGN39740" Switch connection from "Power 39740"?"  Regardless if Press accept (check mark) or decline (the X), it will ask me the same question over and over again. I can't use the device because of this. I have held down the power button for 10 seconds multiple times to restart it. I recently got a new cell phone, maybe that's the problem? What should I do? Thanks.

  • OK a hard reset worked for me.  When turning on hold the power button for 12 seconds.

  • I have the same issue on the new 1050, so annoying!

  • The Garmin experience has become so bad. I have the same problem and my Garmins are all unusable.

  • I found a solution: I went into settings on my Garmin and removed all sensors connected to it. I had to reconnect all sensors, and it even asked me to connect to a sensor which it wasn't able to connect to. But then I was able to use my Garmin without problems or connection issues. This all started when I replaced my iPhone with a newer one.

  • Hello all, thanks for your participation here.
This error was previously reported for Edge 540 and may affect all Edge x40 / Edge 1050: Constant Sensor Connected Notifications

Removing the currently connected sensor and then re-pairing the sensor should prevent the message from repeating. You may need to power off and on the device before re-pairing.

We have identified the root cause of this repeated sensor found message and a fix is live in the currently available beta updates: version 27.09 for Edge x40, and version 13.09 for Edge 1050. These updates will be in the public software releases over the next few weeks.

If you continue to experience this behavior after updating or have further questions, please let me know.

  • I also have this bug. It's extremely aggravating. I have to restart the Garmin 840 to break the infinite loop.

  • Thanks for your feedback. Are you able to un-pair and re-pair your sensors to see if this resolves the error?

Most reports we've received of this repeated sensor found alert are with 3rd-party, dual-channel sensors (ANT+ & BLE). What sensor are we seeing detected repeatedly?

I may suggest enrolling in the beta program if you cannot find any other solution, else this fix will be available in the next public software release.

  • It's definitely a BUG in the latest firmware update for the devices.

Thank you GPELICAN for the Hard Reset information.

For my Garmin 540, the following steps resolved the issue:
    1) Hard Reset (per GPelican's instructions:  hold the power button for 12 seconds)
    2) go WAY out of range of your power meter (mine are Assioma Due power pedals).
    3) start you Garmin, and close any currently running activities.
    4) find your Sensors menu, and examine the connected Sensors
I found that there were 4 sensors, two of which were BOGUS bug-introduced, devices.
My only sensors should be my HR monitor, and my power pedals.
    5) Select and delete the bogus devices
    6) bring your Garmin into range of your power sensor(s) (come back from far far away, up to your bike)
Your power sensor(s) should automatically pair.  Do a short test ride.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards, Dave.
