New sensor detected (alert will not go away)

When I turn on my Garmin 840 edge, it says "Power Sensor Found, New-Sensor detected: "P Quarq AGN39740" Switch connection from "Power 39740"?"  Regardless if Press accept (check mark) or decline (the X), it will ask me the same question over and over again. I can't use the device because of this. I have held down the power button for 10 seconds multiple times to restart it. I recently got a new cell phone, maybe that's the problem? What should I do? Thanks.

  • I've had the same issue. During a ride, I've had to cancel some 20~30 times, it eventually went away for good. It did not come up again on the next ride. Not sure!

  • Got the same problem with the 540 and assioma power sensors. The thing is driving me nuts

  • I have the same problem, and tried cancelling with the X many times, turned on and off and still it won't clear.  Garmin what is the fix for this bug?

  • Picture attached. I cannot get rid of this notification, which means I can't use my Garmin. Sometimes the notification goes away, sometimes it doesn't. I end up spending way too much time while riding pressing buttons. Suggestions?

  • Assuming you have a left and right sensor, the problem is that the power sensors can be detected either individually or as one sensor. Garmin keeps hopping between suggesting to connect to the 1 sensor pair or the L/R sensors individually (nice job Garmin software engineers, very newbie mistake to keep the user in a loop...). The 'solution' is to go to settings>sensors and turn off either the L and R sensor or the 1 sensor pair device. When you turn the device/connection off, the edge should stop suggesting to connect to it. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks the trouble is I can't get beyond this loop to get to settings > sensors and remove or turn off.

  • Even if the sensor is turned off or out of reach?

  • Even if the sensor is turned off or out of reach?

Well, no. This happens, at least for me, with the power sensor broadcasting both BLE and ANT+, and Garmin wanting to switch between the two. Obviously it's the same sensor, I cannot leave one home when riding.

  • Thanks the trouble is I can't get beyond this loop to get to settings > sensors and remove or turn off.

I had to cancel MANY times, then the message seemed to stay away for long enough for me to navigate to the sensor menu and remove the unwanted sensor.

  • Yea, but in the settings, you will then be able to choose not to connect to the sensor via ANT+. You can access the sensor settings when it is turned off. And then when youre riding, it won't suggest ANT anymore
