I wanted to improve my segment time, but Garmin indicated that I was off course (near the segment start point). All segment-related data fields remained empty until the end of the segment. In the post-ride view (Garmin Connect), the segment time was recorded as usual.
This happens in approximately 20% of attempts.
The solution would be to either:
1. Reduce the sensitivity of off-course notifications, or
2. Enable the device to recover segment tracking on the fly using its local GPS data.
