840 mount is not as snug as my old 530

I just picked up an 840 solar. I have genuince Garmin out front mounts.

With my 530, it turned in with a bit of tension from friction and was in solid. The new 840 turns in with almost no tension at all. It does lock into place, but I can slightly rock it. Is this normal? I've seen posts where people have the mounting tab actually come off. I checked my screws and they seem fine.

Pretty weak response from Garmin. Obviously a lot of people are reporting this issue. It would be wise to look into it more vs writing some blanket statement about extensive testing.

Hi scottdeleeuw It is possible the mounts you have been using have worn over time. Please try the new mount that came with your Edge. Please let us know how the new mount works.

So I have an Edge 500, an Edge 530, a Varia and this new Edge 840. The Edge 840 is the only one loose in this mount, all others are snug. It's also loose in the mount that came with it.

Same here. The Edge 530 requires more force to turn than the Edge 840. It varies with the mount used, the ones from Garmin and Canyon feel save with the 530 but do not require much force with the 840. I need to be careful when touching the 840. My first thought was “this doesn’t feel good” .

Another mount from Ridley holds even the Edge 840 firm.

It's not the mounts that are causing the issue, it's the device itself, the quarter turn is shallower on the 840 so it wobbles a bit in the mount, whereas in the previous iterations it is deeper and locks in tighter

same problem with brand new 540 with the brand new mount. I hear it even in bad road goes with sound "click click" which break my nerves.
