Is Garmin Edge 840 Solar Japan region locked?

 I bought a Garmin Edge 840 Solar on a recent trip to Japan and I unable to pair it with Garmin Connect in Brazil. I already changed my Garmin profile location to Japan and tried to use a VPN indicating that my location is in Japan without success. Garmin support center believes that the location where the device was bought is messing up with the pairing process. Please help if anyone knows how to solve this issue. Thanks.

  • When you say pairing with Garmin Connect are you talking about Garmin Connect Mobile on the phone or with Garmin Connect on the Web via Garmin Express.

  • Thank you for the reply. I mean the Garmin Connect Mobile. I was able to use Garmin Express on my PC and add it as a new device to Garmin Connect (web). What I am not able to do is add this new device on the Garmin Connect Mobile. It seems that the Garmin Connect Mobile App is not able to find the new device, even though it appears on the phone's device list.

    ① Check the current region settings of your Garmin account

    Tap [Japan] or [Country you want to use] in the authentication domain

    Tap Settings
    Tap Profile & Privacy
    Tap Manage Garmin Account
     Change the regional settings on the my garmin site
    Run [Sign in]
    Confirm that your place of residence is [Japan] or [Country you want to use] * Proceed to the next step only if something other than [Japan] or [Country you want to use] is selected here.
    Tap Edit
    Tap [Place of Residence]
    Scroll the list and tap [Japan] or [Country you want to use]
    Finally tap Save
