The x40 series switch to use a different data field. Change it to Distance to Next.
See forums.garmin.com/.../tip-4---if-segment-distance-time-to-go-is-not-working
still don't work. "Diastance to Next" seems always 500m more to the destination
I’ve already tried that and it still doesn’t work. The issue is that the “distance to next” data field isn’t providing the accurate length of the segments. The length of the segments is always off by anywhere…
I raised a ticket about the initial starting value of the "Time to go" when starting a segment.
Hi. I have the same issue. Do you know how to resolve it.? Thx
See earlier in the thread.
Basically edit the page and change "Distance to go" to "Distance to Next"

I’ve already tried that and it still doesn’t work. The issue is that the “distance to next” data field isn’t providing the accurate length of the segments. The length of the segments is always off by anywhere where between 300-500mtrs. For example, I rode a 1.6km segment the other day and when the segment popped up on the screen, the “distance to next” field said 1.9km. This is happening on every segment at the moment. Interestingly I switched back to my edge 1030 yesterday which uses “distance to go”.. and rode the same segment and it was fine. The distance was correct. I’ve tried garmin product support and have an open ticket but they seem unable to provide a solution. Ticket number is 25544123K1. Thanks
The distance when it pops up includes the approach distance to the start. It is giving you the total distance from your current location to the segment end.. So if the segment is 1.5 Km long and it gives you the approach message 200 meters before the start then the distance reported would be 1.7 Km.
No that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about when the segment has actually started. The “distance to next” data field is showing the segment to be longer than it actually is. When I have finished the segment, there is still around 200-300 meters remaining in the data field. On the 1030 this doesnt happen. Thanks
Strange. I have never seen that.
Would you be willing to share a FIT activity file where this happened and the activity profile you used?
Yes that’s fine, but you’ll need to explain how to make the FIT File and the activity profile?? Thanks, Gareth.
The files are on the unit.
The FIT file is the format of the activity file that is created and saved in the Garmin\Activities folder it is named using the date it was created. The activity profile is in the Garmin\Sports folder and will be named to match the name of the profile you used.
