I've been using an Edge 830 for the last 4 years and specifically upgraded from the Edge 820 for the Trailforks integration.
I jumped to an 840 Solar because I'm one of 'those people' who likes new gadgets - and it was delivered on Monday.
My first time out was on Thursday - where I visited a brand new trail centre. The new trails are on the Trailforks website, and on the phone app - but when I was there, none of the trails appeared on my 840. I ended up with my phone in my hand every 10 mins trying to find the trails I wanted!
Reading the Trailforks website it states:
The Garmin Edge 530, Edge 830 and Edge 1030 Plus offer the integrated Trailforks features.
- These Edge devices include a custom Garmin basemap with routable worldwide MTB trail data. Trailforks POIs are also included.
- Trail search from the Garmin menu, to find a trail on device.
- Forksight mode - automatically displays upcoming forks in the trail and gives you context by showing where you are within a trail network.
No mention of the 840 (although it is still quite new). I can see my 840 has a Trailforks map in it, but it's about 6 months old. Even when I update - I don't get anything newer.
I'm now wondering if I've made a big mistake with the 840?
