Problems downloading maps Edge 830

I recently purchased a Edge 830. I have 2 issues: 1. I received this message after connecting device to Express when attempting to download an update that was available for Routable Map AU. The message was- "There was an error installing update". 2. I purchased the device to use in Europe in a few weeks time. I have purchased Garmin's Cycle Map of Europe. The error message when I attempt to download is: "Not enough space". If I delete the Australia maps on Garmin, will they be available to me on my return? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Others have a similar issue which this post here might help you

  • There are free maps available and, since you can download just for the region you need, there might not be an issue with space.

The maps you buy from Garmin don't include updates (you have to buy updates).

You'll be able to reinstall the unit's original maps.

(You could copy the maps off of the device and copying them back too.)

The article HERE will walk you through how to remove the correct files so there's enough room on the Edge to install the Garmin Cycle Map of Europe. After you return from Europe you can use the same article above to reinstall the maps that came with your device.
