(Some) Sensors not auto-connecting anymore after 9.40 update

I recently updated to the latest firmware (9.40 according to the menu). Since that day I have had the issue that some sensor do not auto-connect:

  • Bontrager Ion: Yes
  • Garmin RTL 510 Light Portion (!): Yes
  • Garmin RTL 510 Radar Portion (!): NO
  • Quarq DZero AXS: NO
  • Wahoo Tickr 2: Yes

The Radar one is extremely odd. Generally all the sensors will connect immediately when I connect manually from the sensor list but on the next ride they again will not auto-connect. I have not had the chance to test with other sensors yet but this is obviously not a sustainable solution.

Any pointers and fixes welcome

  • Same here.. this is truly ridicolous that you can distribue new firmware with such a bug. It's f*** frustrating this is happening. Somebody who let this happened, should be fired.

  • We've got the interns working on cycling and sports. The A team is doing Aviation, Nautical systems, B team for cars.

  • On the Edge 820, I've been having the same problem since the 9.4 upgrade. I have to manually reset all my sensors before each ride. In a typical situation, I set them, chat with my buddies for a few minutes before the ride, then have to reset them again because the Garmin went to sleep before the ride started. I've found no solutions yet.

  • I've had some success reconnecting sensors after sleep. If I stop my ride for lunch or something and then tap the power/sleep button my lights turn off and screen goes blank. Before waking the Edge I tap my remote, spin the power pedals and also the wheel with speed sensor. Then tap power button to wake up the screen. Press start and the lights wake back up. Remote works and the power pedals and speed sensor works. Activating the sensors other than lights seems to bring everything back online if they are waken up before the sleep is interrupted.

  • Sadly I'm having the same issue (Garmin dual HRM in my case) and this workaround does not work, that is, searching for all sensors doesn't find the HRM. It was working. with a new battery, before the upgrade to 9.40.
