If I'm using the Edge 830 together with the HRM Pro (chest strap) for heart rate monitoring, can I leave my Garmin wrist device behind while riding, or is it somehow still needed? Thanks in advance.

Thanks - good advice, everything works perfectly without it.
One thing you don't get if you leave your watch behind is activity minutes.
That's not true. I leave my fenix 6 home all the time while using my Edge (w/ heart strap) and Intensity minutes are tracked as expected in Garmin Connect and on the fenix the next time it syncs.
Nope. Read the response by Garmin-Matthew
The post from Mathew is 2yrs old. Graphic of one of my recent rides from Garmin Connect with Edge 830 as recording device and no watch. Since my Intensity minutes increased during the ride, I can only assume the Edge was the source of the increase.
Is this because you are using a HRM Pro? If you are using a standard heart rate monitor then intensity minutes are not increased unless you are also wearing your watch.
Ah yes. That would explain it. My bad.
