8.0 not available to me

This is at 20% rollout as of 3:40pm CST.

If betas are available to install directly, why do we have to wait for a rollout process? I do not understand the reasons behind this limitation. 

I am running 7.24 and would like to upgrade to 8.

Beta is made available to us to expand prerelease testing, and we do. It would be nice for Garmin to give something back to the community and give us an official release download. We are still on the beta release and get nothing in return for testing?

I think trickle out is reasoned self defense to protect themselves from, "Oops, awe sh-t, *** up. Our bad."

have a look if maybe you got the new options and functions anyway. My 830 says 7.10 and "no update available", but all the new stuff is already there: different colors for map, custom contrast etc. 

So weirdly enough my device shows 7.10 as software version, but the functions of 8.0 seem to be all there?! 

My availability to 8.0 just appeared. Installed in a few minutes. Looking forward to a test ride.

Does someone know how they manage it: serial number, continent...?

Be patient, you just have to wait.  It will show up eventually.  These things are rolled out slowly so you may not see the update until it is fully rolled out. You may see it just after release.

I have no hurry with it. As I wrote above, I have no probs with v7.24 beta
