Map Update fails or won't unlock

The initial update succeeded but the device displayed a message that it couldn't unlock the map. The update still shows on Express as available but now I cannot install it.

Things I tried:

-Going into Details and Reinstall. The process completes but the result is the same.

-Reinstalling Express.

-Running Express as Admin.

Any ideas?

    Is this the map that came installed on the 830, or is this a supplemental map you purchased separately?

    The map came with the Unit. I bought the unit from the local Garmin distributor in Argentina.

    Started getting errors after the first update attempt.

    I just tried factory resetting the unit. Right after reboot got the map unlock error again.

    Tried with another computer, fresh Garmin Express installation, the map update fails right away.

    One more thing I just realized. Express shows an update available with version 2019.10. The unit has already 2020.20 installed.

    Powering off and on the device I still get the "cannot unlock map" error.

    I have the same issue. I think this is happening  because the available empty space in my case is 5.5 GB and the update needs 9.6 GB

    I think I figured out a work-around.  At least the maps are being downloaded to my 830!

    Go into IQ on the Edge.  Select Trailforks.  When asked if you want to log into Trailforks, select the X (not the checkmark).  You will then get a Trailfoks page with My Routes.  These are ones that you have saved in your Wishlist on Trailforks.  The first time you open a map, it will doiwnload to your Edge, and then be saved under Saved Courses.  

    Seems kind of kludgy, but it works, and I didn't have to uninstall/reinstall anything.

    I think you got it for the annoying "cannot unlock map" message. I've never used Trailforks and didn't even have an account. I created one and logged in with the phone and right after I clicked the Trailforks option on the unit I saw an "unlocking map" message. When I plugged it to the computer it downloaded an update but I don't think that was even necessary.

    When I turned the device on again, the cannot unlock map message went away.

    The original problem I reported, the map update not installing went away long before.
