Edge 830 - Power2max NG; No Wattage data;

 Apologies if this has been asked before (I couldn't find anything specific about it) but I cannot get wattage from the crank into the 830, any ideas?

The sensor connects ok, I add *every* screen value related to power I can see, I calibrate it but nothing ... When I upload a ride to my phone afterwards it picks up the cadence, so I know its talking to the 830 ok, but just not sending the wattage, unless of course it's being kind to me by showing a zero instead of my real value!!

    I didnt realise I had to pay 490 euros to 'activate' the power meter ... what a rip off, I thought that was included in the price of the bike!

  • that is very rare situation where the active pm a default component on a bike (or the bike's price is high like Canyon's flagship models 4 example)

    490eur is not too much (if it is NG and not NGEco, but a new NGEco is also 490eur :), but be sure, these are the best powermeters in the market at now, the most accurate /NG/ and the most reliable /NG and NGEco both/), i have 3 NGs since (the 1st from jan 2017 , i was one of the 1st preorder customer in 2016), and these (normal) price were above 1000 eur ... (ok i could buy all with special discounts )

    Its an NG I think, and now it has the power enabled and installed - So as soon as I get a break from work I'm going to head out and see if it works :-)

  • the most visible difference is the battery cap, left is NG , right is NGEco:

    Was this ever solved... i am having the same problem with the garmin 520 and my cannondale Supersix which came with a power2max ngeco... literally never have a problem with it. Yesterday updated firmware. Now only get cadence reading to my garmin. I checked the power2max app and made sure the power check mark is there. Ive factory reset, reapplied sensors to the garmin.... likewise, I don’t think it’s a hardware issue but I’m pretty upset that the firmware has killed the power portion of the meter. It’s obviously software related. I’ve contact power2max support.

  • Uncheck the power , close the app, open the app, and check the power and close the app again, maybe it helps (but the P2M support will help You for sure if it has any server side issue or similar, the powermeter should be fine )

    mad39 didnt pay for his powermeter so he had no power data for that ! ;)

  • I am also having the same issue now, worked perfectly prior to firmware update, have raised a ticket with p2m.

  • any update with this? i have the same problem

  •    brand new NG(Eco)? Registered via app? or what is the problem?  Did You buy it separately or came with the bike preinstalled? Did You pay for the preinstalled powermeter? IF not, it is only a cadence sensor, nothing else.

  • I have a NGEco and use it with my 830.  It does work, and it does record my power properly.  You can verify your functionality through the mobile app, which connects via BTLE.  This leads into a problem though:

    NGEco only supports one BTLE connection.  If you are using BTLE on any of the garmin units to connect to the NGEco will cause both disconnect and information loss. This is due to the mobile device randomly trying to connect to the ngeco, which will bump it off the connection to your edge/garmin, and you will probably be left with just cadence.

    The solution is to ONLY use the ant+ connection and ensure you remove any BTLE connections from your garmin device to the NGEco. This is not a bug, it is a resultant issue in the BTLE stack. You need to verify this, again don't leave both BTLE and ANT, you need to ensure it does not even try to do BTLE.

    BTW, even if your phone doesn't show the BTLE connection is being made, it may still be made.  This is unfortunately part of how it works.
