Garmin have given the same chip different part numbers so that they can deliver builds that are specific to the needs of a given unit. This is why the same chip has different builds. If you look in the XML file you will see that these units actually have a different part number for the GPS chip.
It is not that the Edge is behind in builds, but rather it is using a different build that is specific to the needs on that unit.

thanks for the good explanation, the only thing i don't understand, why GPS 2.90 is published 2 day ago again, i am sure i have this version since 3 month on my Edge 830?
is there a Version mismatch on Garmin side?
