Thanks Peter. Icalled support and tried these. No dice. The device was purchased in an auction as well which means I'm not a legitimate customers in Garmin's eyes who is not entitled to the same rights and protection as everyone else...so no warranty ..the device has been thrown away. Gain don't seem to care
