Straight out of the box...wont turn on? Do Garmin test their products or even read these threads? This is ridiculous
Did you try a soft reset by holding the power button down for about 10 sec or a bit longer?
If you computer doesn't recognize it as a USB device, try this

Thanks Peter. Icalled support and tried these. No dice. The device was purchased in an auction as well which means I'm not a legitimate customers in Garmin's eyes who is not entitled to the same rights and protection as everyone else...so no warranty ..the device has been thrown away. Gain don't seem to care
