5.00 Turn by Turn guidance

Hi,

Another disappointed course, again the new update bring not a solution on the "TbT guidance" issue !

I really can't understand that Garmin don't resolve this problem, knowing that the same happened with the 820 !?

To be correct I have to say about the same issue as the Egde 820, at last that unit work's correctly for some 40 Km, with the 830 it could be after 5Km or it didn't work at all with immediately, the distance to end and a street here neighborhood irremovable at the top of the screen for all the ride !

Anyway, some update resolve it, why can this be transposed on the newest machine ?

Another thing that made me thinking, this forum is full of other questions and asking's for other stuff than where a GPS is made for: guidance!!! This made me asking myself, am I alone with this real problem? Other ways there is something happened with my unit and I have to return it.

So the question of this post : who can use an Edge 830 with a correct Turn by Turn guidance for a ride from 50 Km (or more?) ???

I can only give some general advice and say what solved navigation issues for me. You’ve been using navigation devices for a while so you know what you are doing. Sorry if you know all this and sorry…

I'm using open street maps (Openfietsmap Lite) from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl and courses created on Strava. So long as I have all the pre installed Garmin maps and especially the Garmin world…

thx for your suggestion, there are no toll road in Belgium, but anyway it is/was turn off

Damn. If it sucks for road, it'll surely suck for MTB. Bummer!

It doesn't matter if the road is actually a toll road in the real world, it's how the creator of the OSM map uses certain tags to determine if a road is usable by a particular mode of transport. In the case of openfietsmap it uses the toll road tag to determine whether to allow cycle routing on these roads.

Some roads in the UK near where I live are not toll roads & are perfectly cyclable, however due to the way the creator of the opensfietsmap has tagged the roads if I have 'Avoid Toll Roads' enabled the Garmin will avoid routing on these roads & take a more convoluted route

So, I have try most the suggestions you guy's advice me ... nope !
I have not finish one ride with TbT guidance, in fact I am now wondering if it becomes worse, probably it is only an impression I call Garmin they ask me a Prtntscrn of the Garmin directory but not yet an answer.
I am still about sure it will become OK with the delivering Update , please hurry Garmin

At last !!! I ride this morning and yesterday 2 different tracks without any issue !!!

But I try such a lot of things, that I do not know exactly what precisely resolve(?) the problem ...

The last what I do: I install a map from Freizeit ( https://www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/garmin/en/index.html ) and actived the basemap at the same time (I read somewhere that I have to always do this)

I'll see Sunday if it is still OK

I think I resolve this quite simply a few month ago, just select only the map I use, and very important be sure Basemap is always enable, this made TbT works perfectly, since I do not have any other issue .
