How to navigate to a certain address under FW 4.19?

It sounds like a stupid question. I know. ;)

However, can anybody tell me how to set a normal address using city, street, and house number in order to navigate to it with my 830?

According to the manual, I should go to "Browse Map" and then go to "Search" in order to navigate to a point of interest, city, address, intersection, or known coordinates. But, I didn't find a possibility to do a respective search after I clicked on "Browse Map". I can only zoom in and out of the map and swipe the map for navigating to a certain point by clicking on it.

Instead, there is a direct "Search" option under Navigation. But even this only gives me the options to search for POIs, cities, and coordinates. There are no addresses. Nowhere.

Perhaps, I do something wrong. But even after resetting the device nothing changed.

  • Check that the  Garmin supplied Geocode map for your region is enabled under the activity profile you are using.

Activity profiles -> name of profile -> Navigation -> Map -> Map information

  • Thanks for your reply.

It seems that this problem isn't really new. I found another query dealing with this topic. Although it is related to the Edge 1030, the solution of reinstalling the Garmin cycling maps, esp. the Geocode map, via Garmin Express should solve the problem. I will do so today and give you a short feedback if I got back the address search field.

By the way, meanwhile I have updated to firmware version 4.25 Beta.

EDIT: Now it works as expected.

I have the same problem did as instructed in forum but no address folder to open.

  • I had exactly the same issue. I did check that correct Map was enabled which didn't work. I then reinstalled the same map from within Garmin Express which did work.
