Livetrack again...

Since updating iPhone to iOS 13 live track stops mid-ride and cannot reconnect. Edge responds like everything is ok, notifications work fine.

iOS 13, 13.1, 13.1.1 all with same problem. Web interface reads "No signal. Trying to reconnect.". Stays like this forever.

Close inspection it seems phone and Edge loose second BT connection (why it needs two connections is beyond me). As I said notifications work without a glitch.

Previous version was more verbose about live track status, like showing that phone was disconnected and live track paused. I do not see those messages in 4.10.

Updated Garmin connect mobile two times and issues remain. My wife is killing me on this one, since I had some crashes mid-ride and she relies on this service to know if I am ok.

For me this is a major function of the Edge, so I think the device is not fit for purpose...

Anyone experiencing same symptoms?

Today found a new iOS update 13.1.2. Changelog refers to Bluetooth on certain vehicles. Tomorrow I cannot ride, but hopefully I will try Thursday or Friday.

Edge has 2 BT connections - 1 for your phone and the other for BT sensors if you have any. So if you have one but not the other, only one connection will be on. You can probably "Forget" the other setting with no harm.

I believe the second BT connection is the "data" connection that enables sync and live track. When not active I cannot sync. This second connection seems to be the issue.

iOS 13.1.2 update, 50km ride (1h30 or so). no issues.

Tomorrow gonna do longer ride and see how it goes.

As ZillaG stated both Bluetooth connections are needed an neither should be removed from the Bluetooth menu. And to further pauloalexneves we believe that the 13.1.2 iOS did have some fixes to help with connectivity issues that have been reported.

Not solved I’m afraid. Today on a long ride after about 1h9 livetrack failed. Same problem, second Edge connection not working.

The issue is really that second connection. It resumes on activity end to send activity data, but once disconnected not even on iOS BT settings I can make it connect. Says connection unsuccessful. This is what triggers the problem. Notifications work fine.

possible solutions:

since Fenix3 uses only one connection why Edge uses 2???

use Garmin connect mobile with phone GPS when Edge not available

solve the dreaded connection problem once and for all?
