My Garmin 830 edge is stuck on boot up

Still not got my replacement back, the Garmin customer service is dire, they can’t find my replacement one and can’t give me an answer when it will be sent out 

This morning my garmin 830 rebooted at the start of an activity. It got stuck at "loading courses,...." with the 3 dots. I fixed it with the solution of aweaterall : connect to a pc, do a hard reboot (press button for 15s) and when restarting hold the lap button. The device was connected to my pc as a "mass storage device".  I went to the folder \garmin\NewFiles and moved all files in it to a folder on my laptop. I rebooted and my garmin is working again

I'm super glad for this community support. Same problem . I followed the above instructions and got the 830 into Mass Storage Mode (displays on 830 screen) and was able to delete the big gpx file causing the "stuck on loading courses". Im updated Garmin software 6.0 for the 830 device and my big gpx file 7MB caused the problem. Update did not solve the problem. Thks.

I am having the same issue with my Edge 830, however when I am able to open as a storage device I have noting in New Files folder and no large GPX Files, Any other way to hard reset or completely clear out Edge 830

You may want your profile and settings up so that you can restore them afterwards.

Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.

• Turn device off
• Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
• Press and release the power button
• Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
• Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
• The unit will restart and clear non-vol
