Speed and distance incorrect after update to 3.50

Two days ago I updated the firmware of my Edge 830 from 3.20 to 3.50.

Since then I had problems with the speed during a 1.5 hour ride. The speed was continuously inaccurate (varying between the actual speed, half the speed and 0) while GPS was working fine (I was correctly positioned on the map).

After the update to 3.50 I tried the following:
- Reboot the device
- Different GPS settings (GPS, GPS+GLONASS, GPS+Galileo)
- Device reset
- Device reset to factory settings

None of these measures worked. That's why I reinstalled version 3.20 of the firmware. After that, the speed was accurate again.

Then I reinstalled version 3.50 and the recorded speed and distance were off again.

I will attach two screenshots and FIT files of two similar test rides of about 20 km/h I did with the two different firmware versions (3.20 and 3.50), both after a complete reset of the device.

I hope the issue can be identified and fixed.

Just curious, did you have a speed sensor attached as well? I saw something similar to this in one of my long rides, but it seemed to only last about 20 went away after I stopped in a single location for…

Just curious, did you have a speed sensor attached as well? I saw something similar to this in one of my long rides, but it seemed to only last about 20 went away after I stopped in a single location for a 20-30min break (activity was still running). But I didn't know if it was my wheel speed sensor or the GPS, or some combination of them both.

jrodss I'm sorry. You were pointing me in the right direction. I do have a cadence sensor, which also registers speed (I thought it was GPS). On my last ride, today, I received a message that the wheel size was recalculated, which seemed strange to me. I checked the speed/cadence sensor installation and that solved the issue. Thank you very much for helping me out!

So after all, the reason that the reinstallation of firmware 3.20 was working, was that I did not add that sensor, so that ride used GPS for distance/speed.

Inconsistent data from cadence sensor too... last firmware is full of bugs!
