Edge 830 Stages low battery indication

Stages low battery indication

One of bugs in 3.50 is that shortly (several hours) after placing new battery in Stages crank power meter Edge is showing low battery indication. Whereas mobile stages app is correctly showing full battery. Please fix this in new software.

Are you paired over BLE or ANT to the Stages power meter?

Same issue here. It also shows calibration value "0" when you calibrate, even though it says calibration successfull

Then you are connected over BLE. Over ANT I have no problem with calibration

Is this in the sensor details about page or as a pop-up warning?

Pop up warning and in sensors power is marked yellow

I've switched to ANT now and calibration issue is indeed solved.

Turned out I was on BLE (Though I'm almost sure I paired with ANT). ANT+ is not giving false low battery warnings. Its BLE that needs to be fixed.

This is due to the nature of the way the BLE specification has been implemented.

In the ANT profile it is the sensor vendor that determines the status of the battery and transmits as status code that corresponds to values like Good, Low etc.

In the BLE protocol it does not send a status, but rather a battery %. It is then up to the head unit manufacture to determine what that % means. There is no agreed mapping between % and status.
