I'd like to be able to use my Apple Watch as the heart rate sensor with my Edge 830. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Keith

6287656 sorry to unearth an old thread. I would like to bring some additional clarity to this topic.
Garmin watches that feature "Heart rate broadcast" emit an ant+ heart rate signal that can be paired…
It's actually on Apple. Their device does not conform to the standards used by the vast majority of sports sensors, which is kind of typical of Apple. They dance to their own drummer.
According to Garmin's specifications of the Fenix 5 & 6 they can broadcast HR over ANT+ so you could use them to send HR data to any head unit that connects to ANT+ HR sensors.
I was looking as well and I just found a newly released gadget that should work not sure if it’s worth buying this or just getting a wahoo tickr fit....

Tracking shows ithe Heartbeatz will arrive on Monday. NPE confirmed that the device creates a direct bridge between the Apple Watch and the Edge head unit so having the iPhone present is not required. Not having to hassle with the redundant Wahoo Tickr Fit HR will be fantastic. It is especially a pain when wearing arm warmers.
Awesome! If possible could you tell me if it works with the heartbeatz in a backpack? I will be using it for cycling to work so would have the heartbeatz in my bag in my back :) (all my ant+ plus devices are line of sight so this is different)
I won’t have it in a backpack, but will have it in a pocket in my cycling jersey. So it won’t be line of sight. I don’t think that will be an issue as I have other ANT+ devices that are not line of sight (Varia RADAR, Speed sensor). None the less I will post a review Monday evening.
Yes it is now possible. I received the NPE Heartbeatz unit and it pairs the Apple Watch and the Edge GPS units. Fantastic solution..
