830 will not turn on

I had a strange problem today.  I charged the unit using a charger (not the computer) and the 830 powered off as expected when full charge was reached.  However, when I went to do a ride, I could not turn it on.  Tried the power button many times, also held it >10 seconds to try for a reset.  Nothing worked.  I then used the USB cable to plug it into the computer.  that powered it up and after that, could power up and down with the power button.  I looked for an error log file after my ride, but could not find one.  Any ideas?  I will have to do some testing to see if this repeats.  Note I am running the beta firmware.

    I suspect it will all get sorted out eventually. At least my 830 seems to be performing well now. Will update if any problems come up.  I have to give Garmin a little slack due to the Pandemic issues that have dominated over the past few months. I'm just glad I'm not suffering with the 820 any more. The 830 is a million times better (except for the navigation routing which I find absurd)

    Since I started this thread, I thought maybe I should comment on my experience.  Although I had this happen many times, I have not seen it in many months now.  Not sure if that is because something got fixed, or I have just been lucky.  I know Garmin thinks the latest update has fixed this, I have not seen it since long before the update.  Lately I have been charging it from the computer, but that is because I have been playing with some IQ stuff so I needed GC.

    I decided to install the update manually.  Aside from having a bit of a problem getting getting GC on my iPhone to connect with the 830, it seems ok.  ( remove from both devices and restart a few times and it worked)

    I charged it and powered it down.  I’ll check tomorrow and hopefully it will power up properly.   

    Update:

    It was 95% last night when I powered it down and 95% this morning when I turned it on.

    Similar issue. Running 5.50 and on unplugging from pc the 830 does not turn on. 10 sec hold on the pwr button worked this time.

    I had the same problem - I could see that the screen was faintly illuminated (but showing nothing) and randomly i held power button for must have been 20 seconds. Waited briefly - then powered on - that seems to have sorted it.  Edge 830, charged using mains power not computer

    Thank you. This was super helpful. I had to hold the power button for 7-10 second to turn on.

    I have the same issue only after charging it again than it turns on?Thinking

    End of 2021, and this is still an issue. I frequently have to hold the power button for more than 8 sec to get the unit to turn on. This seems like an issue to me.
