830 will not turn on

I had a strange problem today. I charged the unit using a charger (not the computer) and the 830 powered off as expected when full charge was reached. However, when I went to do a ride, I could not turn it on. Tried the power button many times, also held it >10 seconds to try for a reset. Nothing worked. I then used the USB cable to plug it into the computer. that powered it up and after that, could power up and down with the power button. I looked for an error log file after my ride, but could not find one. Any ideas? I will have to do some testing to see if this repeats. Note I am running the beta firmware.

I've had the same problem three times.
After pressing the power button for a long time the Edge started.

I am using the software 3.20

I also cannot switch the device on via Power Button.

Happened to me this morning. Charged it last night connected to my PC. Unplugged it and powered it off. Absolutely was powered off. Tried to turn it on this morning and nothing. I could see a faint power button looking icon. Plugged it in and held the power switch. It finally came up showing 25% battery.

I think that something is either buggy with the power off or it somehow wakes up sitting on my desk. I usually leave it plugged into my pc so I haven’t seen this problem. But I have noticed that it wakes up sometimes under those conditions. I assumed it was because the pc rebooted or something. At least then it’s on power so the battery stays charged.

I’m waiting for it to charge now before I can start my ride. I’m happy I’m not in the middle of my 2-day double century ride.

Yes it does! They added the manual install file in the announcement thread.

For me, i installed the update. No crashes or lock ups so far. Only shows as 5.10 on Garmin Express, but shows as installed on the device.

As of today, the only weird thing is that during the "Checking for update" process in Garmin Express, it hangs after syncing. The wheel just spins. Before this it still showed version 5.10, now it can't seem to find the server or complete the update check. Just removed and re added the device, now checks for updates again but still shows 5.10. My version of Express is 7.0 and on a Mac.

Garmin just pushed a new update to Garmin Express. It has been behaving weirdly for me as well. They fixed a problem with always asking to set up the WiFi but appears to have broken the ability to view what updates are pending. The problems you are seeing seem consistent with a Garmin Express problem.
