Does your phone stay connected to the 830 / 530 ?

Like the title says...this is why I ditched my previous Edge.  Has anyone with previous 1030 issues had better luck with the 830 or 530?  I really want to keep using my varia vision and radar but this is a huge deciding factor before laying down the cash.

  • I am seeing a few connected/disconnected messages once in a while.

  • My phone also was disconected after a ride of almost 2 hours. Garmin 830, Samsung S9+.

Only two rides so far, but it looks good. Even LiveTrack worked today.

  • OMG i should of stay with wahoo, my iPhone X keeps disconecting.i have divice up to date, hope they fix soon if not going back .

  • My 530 will stay connected to my Note 8 for about 5 to 15 minutes.  I keep Garmin Connect open.  Start my activity.  I make sure live track starts and turn my Note 8 screen off (stays powered).  Sometime it last for 5 minutes.  Sometimes 15 minutes.  Somewhat random.  Phone stays with me on the bike.  I'm guessing a firmware update will help.

Where my 1030 wouldn't stay paired more than a few days before another 15 minute pairing battle -

The 830 has retained the pairing for me so far.  Granted, it's rained every weekend the past 4 months in Indiana so I've only been riding maybe 4 times.  So far for me, the 830 has retained phone connectivity on the same phones that the 1030 would not.

Hopefully it stays this way Grinning

  • I don't have phone connectivity issues at all with the edge 830, the FR945 behaves like all the fenixes before: If you put your phone on the desk and walk a lot of time out of range and back in, at some point it will not reconnect. Disabling bluetooth on the phone or the watch fixes that.

Got a new Edge 530 two weeks ago with all the sensors. I have a iPhone X. Paring was a slow process. Worked great the first 3 rides. Then the disconnects.  Hate it!  Had to reset my 530 several times.  the 530 has such great features just not  reliable. I am going to keep it but may disable BT.

Just thought I'd update.  My 830 still connects immediately every time (only if I have Garmin Connect in the forefront on my Android).  I've not had to re-pair it at all.  The 1030 was terrible in that regard, but 830 seems to have fixed all this.

  • I have an 830.  It doesnt stay connected to the phone.  It starts off that way then disconnects soon after I start the ride.  It also disconnects the GPS/Gallileo, it disconnects to my Di2 buttons, disconnects my HR.  Everything connects and disconnects constantly.  Its useless.
