Constant Sensor Connected Notifications

Hello - Just got a bike and my edge 830 keeps notifying me that the SRAM etap shifters are connected. Have had to turn off all notifications, but wondering has anyone had this issue previously, and found the solution. No problems with all other sensors, and have checked battery, etc.

  • I have the 27.14 version and still happens to me... Already tried to remove the sensor and add it again but the problem persists...

  • been a while since i complained, but this is still happening after multiple claims that it's being fixed. it has improved in that it only has a totally unusable screen for 5-10 mins before it goes away rather than the whole ride, but it's still a problem. The fix cannot be to go through and unpair and repair each sensor. There are too many sensors and when the screen doesn't work you can't do any of them.

  • Thanks for your continued feedback, we expect to include another fix in an upcoming update.

Most reports we see are power sensors that broadcast via both ANT+ and BLE, especially dual-sided power sensors where two sides are connected as a single sensor.
Depending on what type of sensor the Edge is detecting, we should only need to unpair/remove that same type of sensor before re-pairing.

  • well... I've done that and the issue persisted. in my specific situation I have the new assioma RS-1 (single sided version)

  • Thank you for your response but my experience has been the issue happens with every sensor, varia radar, single sided power meter, and heart rate monitor. it's like both the edge 530 and 540 (worse on 540) just goes into stupid mode

  •  We have not seen this reported on Edge 530, nor with Varia radar sensors. May I reach out to you externally via your account email to collect more details?

  • Hi, I am having the same persistent power meter detected issue with my Giant Power Pro sensor. Luckily I can still use my Garmin when connecting via BLE. If I connect to the sensor using ANT plus the device becomes unusable because of the persistent power meter detected notifications taking over the device.

Image of power meter attached for reference.

  • this happens with every sensor. it started with HR this morning and then switched to trainer. i was up early for a ride and started for edge 540 20 mins before the ride to try and fix this stupid issue. switched from hr to trainer and had to go before i could fix.

sure enough it kept the screen so i could see it for a full 2 hour ride. just sharing this picture out of frustration. how are you suggesting that the answer is to go in and unpair sensors when you can't access the screen? it's totally unusable.

  • Thanks again, we do expect to release a fix here shortly and I will update users with more info.

As other users have reported, switching the sensor's connection type (ANT+, BLE) may resolve the error. You may also test having the sensor paired only once or paired twice as two sensor connections (one for ANT+ and the other for BLE - I cannot say how all 3rd party sensors will be detected). Typically each sensor will pair only once, with the option to change Connection Type under Sensor Details

It is unexpected that a trainer sensor would be continually detected when out of range while riding; pressing and holding the power button to force a shutdown before restarting may resolve this if you experience it again.
